Of Families

Are all cultures equally valid? Valid? Yes. Equal? Maybe not. Every culture brings their own pros and cons to the table. Mexican families, for example, celebrate a girls 15 year-old birthday as a signal that she has entered womanhood. That brings a family closer together, doesn’t it? Cannibals, on the other hand, have a culture of eating each other. That definitely divides (quite literally) families. Doesn’t it? Thus we see that all cultures are not equal in the way they bring the family closer together. Just some food for thought this week!
